Welcome to the inaugural edition of CREWED. This is a new monthly publication, focused on the people and tech who keep the industry going and the content coming.
This month, it’s all about the safety word – and not in a 50 Shades way. Coming back from work in much the same shape as you left home is an important part of the job. Maybe you’re a little dirtier, hopefully you’re a little richer, and – from April – you’ll be a little more responsible for yourself and others.
There are reasons women live longer than men, but stupidity doesn’t have to be one of them. Leave that to other people – preferably ones whose behaviour won’t impact on your ACC premiums or the number of fingers you have.
Batteries on airplanes present a different safety issue, and another around which legislation is changing in April.
In case you’re thinking we’re at risk of disappearing down the rabbit hole of safety consciousness, we’ve also got an interview with the very lively chair of the AFCI (and Southern Institute of Technology’s film school), Queenstown-based Kevin KJ Jennings … a look under the hood of TV show Filthy Rich … and more.
Enjoy! And, while you do, check out some of the advertisers who got behind this inaugural issue to make CREWED a (virtual) reality. Thanks indeed!
Before you dive in, take a moment to read the housekeeping, then you’ll never have to bother again.
We publish CREWED 10 times a year (February through November) as PDF and online editions. The content is more or less the same. If there’s some online-only content we can’t deliver in an offline format, like a streaming video, we’ll link to it from the PDF edition. So, whether you prefer to download the PDF and browse at your leisure, online or off, or to be here online and read on the website, you won’t miss out.
We’re not a news service (SCREENZ does that) or a directory (The Data Book does that). Publishing monthly, we have a little more time to reflect and explore. CREWED won’t send you lots of newsletters, but we do have a mailing list to let you know when a new issue is published. Sign up here to get Crewed – in a good way.
Keith is the editor of SCREENZ, and the co-creator and founding editor of CREWED.
